Function of the existing component
I clarify what the component must do, which mating parts and functional surfaces matter and what data already exists. You can commission an individual scan or component task without a prior Process Check.
A scan mesh is not the design-intent model
A scan describes the captured as-is geometry. Wear, damage and deviations are not blindly copied as design intent. Functional surfaces and optically inaccessible areas need separate clarification before a design-intent CAD model is developed.
Material, tolerances and manufacturing
We agree material, loading, tolerances, manufacturing route, inspection plan and approval for the specific project. The design must fit the function and available process, not merely the visible original.
Fixtures and interfaces
Installation space, mounting features and interface surfaces determine how the part fits the existing workflow. I consider available machines, tools and mating parts in design and process selection.
Data handover, checking and partners
STEP, STL, a drawing or a parametric model are possible deliverables to agree in advance, not an automatic package of every format. I perform my own work and involve specialist partners according to an agreed division of responsibilities. Data revision, checking scope and responsibility for approval are part of the handover.
